National Marble & Stone Co.

We’ve been here in Baliwal for a good while now, right near the petrol pump. It’s a quiet village spot mostly, but being on the main road helps people find us when they need stone for their houses. National Marble & Stone Co. isn't a fancy place. We just have our yard with different slabs and blocks lying around. Sometimes the dust from the road gets on everything, so we’re usually out there cleaning things off or moving pieces with the crane. It’s hard work. Hoshiarpur weather can get really hot, which makes moving heavy marble quite a task in the afternoons. Most of our days are spent talking to neighbors or folks from the nearby villages who drop by after filling up their tanks at the pump. We don’t do big ads or anything like that. People just know we are here. The shop is simple, just a desk and some samples. We try to keep a variety of stones because everyone wants something different for their floors or counters. It’s just us here, making sure the orders are ready and the trucks get loaded properly. It gets busy during the construction season, then quiet when it rains. That’s just how it goes in this part of Punjab. We’ve grown used to the routine of the village and the trucks passing by. It’s a decent way to make a living, honestly. Just plain stone and hard work every day.
