General Zorawar Singh College

General Zorawar Singh College is tucked away in Dhaneta, which is in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. To find us, you actually have to go to the back side of Jeetanjali Public School. It’s a bit of a quiet spot, which is probably good for studying, I guess. We’ve been here for a few years now, serving the local community. The building is pretty standard, nothing too flashy or modern about it. We have the usual classrooms and a small staff room where we drink our chai and talk about the day’s schedule. Most of our students come from the surrounding villages. They walk or take the local buses to get here. We don’t have any of those big fancy sports fields, but there’s enough space for the kids to hang out during their breaks. Managing a college in a place like Hamirpur has its own set of challenges, especially when the weather acts up. We do all our own administrative work right here in the office. It can get a bit messy with all the files and government forms, but we manage to stay on top of it. We aren’t trying to be some high-end corporate school. We’re just a local college providing a place for people to learn. It’s a simple life here in Dhaneta. We open up the gates in the morning and stay until the last classes are done. It’s just what we do every day. We don't have a lot of extras.
