Down here in the Gidc Third Phase, the air always smells like something different. Being at C-1B, 706 in Valsad, we are right in the middle of all the other factories. It gets really hot in the summer, especially when we are mixing things up in the big vats. We’ve been doing this for a long time now. My father started things off and we just kept it going. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy drums and making sure the proportions are right. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky, but we try to keep it clean. We don’t have any big corporate meetings or anything like that. We just talk over lunch about what needs to be shipped out by Friday. Valsad is a good place to be, even if it’s a bit out of the way for some people. We have a few guys who have been with us since the beginning. They know the smells better than anyone. We don’t use any fancy machines that do everything for us. It’s still mostly people doing the measuring and pouring. It’s a simple life, really. We make the scents, pack them up, and send them off. The trucks come in late sometimes and we have to wait around for the drivers to get settled. It's a bit of a slow process, but we don't like to rush things too much or we'll end up making mistakes we can't fix.
