Things are always moving around here at Plot No. 117. Being in the 52 Hector Expansion Area means there is always construction or some new truck blocking the road. Doms Industries Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this GIDC Industrial Area for quite some time now. It’s a lot of concrete and metal. The sun hits the roof of the shed in the afternoon and it gets pretty warm inside. We spend most of the day just making sure the machines are fed and the output is stacked right. It’s a long walk from the main gate to our section. Sometimes the mail gets lost because the expansion area is so big and the numbers don't always make sense to the new drivers. We have a small corner where we keep our lunch boxes and a water cooler that always needs filling. It's not the kind of place you see in magazines. There are grease marks on the walls and the floor has those yellow lines that are mostly worn out now. We focus on the work. People think an industrial area is boring, but there is always something happening. A machine breaks, or a shipment is late, or we just talk about the cricket score. We stay busy at Plot 117. It’s just how it goes in GIDC. The commute is long for most of us, but we’re used to it. We just keep the floor running as best we can every day.
