Our shop is right on Station Road in Umaria. It’s a small town feel here, especially being in the Bandhavgarh tehsil. We see a lot of people coming through since we are near the railway station. The sound of the trains is something you just stop hearing after a few weeks of working here. We mostly handle general business matters and keep our records in order in the back room. The post office is nearby in Umaria, so we are always heading back and forth for mail. It gets quite dusty on Station Road during the summer months, and the rain turns everything to mud during the season. We don’t have a big corporate setup. It’s mostly just a few of us sitting behind the counter or moving things around the store. People from the local villages stop in when they come to town for their supplies. We’ve known most of our regulars for years. Life moves a bit slower here than in the big cities, and we like it that way. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in. Sometimes it's a traveler going to the park, other times it's a neighbor needing help with a delivery. We don’t overthink things. We just run the company the best we can from this spot on the road. The trains come and go at all hours, but the night train is the loudest. Umaria is a quiet place most of the time, and we like the rhythm of it.
