Manish Garments is over in Shantinagar, specifically in the Raj Punjabi Chawl. Working out of a chawl means we are right in the heart of the community. There are always kids playing outside and neighbors talking across the walkways. It’s a very social atmosphere. Our space is small, but we make the most of it. We have our stock piled up and a small area where we handle everything. It can get quite crowded when we have a lot of new items coming in. Shantinagar is a busy place, and the chawl is no exception. We’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time, so we know just about everyone who lives nearby. We don’t use any high-tech systems for our business. Everything is done by hand, and we keep our records in a simple notebook. We don't have a big shop window or anything like that. People usually find us through word of mouth or just by being neighbors. It’s a very local way of doing things. The days are long, and it can be tiring, but we like being here. We start work early and usually don't finish until the sun is down. There’s no fancy marketing or big promises. We just do our work and talk to the people who stop by. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of life here at the chawl. We just try to stay busy and keep things moving.
