Mahek Hosiery

You can find our workshop at Sagar Complex, which is right across the road from Bhola Sai Apartment. Being located so close to Gopi Transport means there is a lot of activity and noise from the trucks, but it actually helps us move our goods out faster. We focus on hosiery work here, which involves a lot of knitting and stitching. The shop is pretty much packed with rolls of thread and stacks of different fabrics. Sometimes it feels a little tight in here with all the boxes piled up, but we have a system that works. My hands are usually covered in little bits of lint by the time I head home. We have been in this spot for a good number of years now. It is a local operation through and through. We do not have a fancy website or anyone doing sales for us. Usually, people just know we are here or they hear about us from someone else. We make things like socks and basic undergarments. The machines make a constant clicking sound all through the day. It is repetitive work, but we like the rhythm of it. We try to keep the quality of the stitching steady, even when the older machines decide to be difficult. We know the other people working in the complex and we often share some tea when things slow down in the afternoon. It is a simple life and we just focus on our needles and thread and getting things ready on time.
