Our shop is right in the middle of the Main Bazar, near the Bhaji Market. It’s Shop No. 270, and we are directly opposite the Choithram Kirana Store. Being in the market means it is always busy and loud. There are people selling vegetables right outside and the smell of the market is everywhere. We keep surgical supplies and medical equipment in stock. The shop is small and packed with boxes from the floor to the ceiling. We try to keep it all in order, but it’s a struggle when new stock arrives. We’ve been in this spot for years. People from the nearby clinics and hospitals come to us because they know we usually have what they need. It’s not a sterile-looking place like a hospital; it’s a busy market shop. We spend a lot of time counting out items or checking expiry dates. Sometimes it’s so crowded in the lane that the delivery guys have trouble getting their carts to our door. We open early when the market starts and stay until things quiet down in the evening. There’s no fancy air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that works hard. It’s a simple business. We know our customers and we know where every box is kept, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. We just do our work here and try to keep things moving along. It is a noisy place but we are used to the bazar life.
