Nerdast Care Foundation

Our office is located at number 60 in Lunghar B, which is over in Ukhrul. It’s quite a way up in the hills. We chose this spot because it’s where we live and where the people we know are. The foundation is run out of a simple house. It doesn't look like a business at all from the outside. Inside, we have set aside a couple of rooms for our work. We focus on care work, which mostly means we spend our time visiting people or having them come to us when they have a problem. The air is cool up here in Ukhrul, but the winters are tough. We usually have a small heater or a fire going when it gets really cold. We don't have a lot of staff, just a few dedicated people from the village. Our days are spent talking to families and trying to figure out how to help with their daily struggles. We don't have a big fancy sign or a polished way of speaking. We just use plain English and our local dialect to get things done. It’s hard work and the days can be long, but we are used to it. We keep our records in simple notebooks because the internet is often spotty. It’s a very basic way of running things, but it works for us here in Ukhrul.
