Our office is located right across from the V D Cloth Market in Ujjain. It is a very active part of town, and there are always people around looking for a way home after they finish their shopping. Annapurna Bus Services has been running from this spot for quite a while now. It takes a lot of effort to keep the buses maintained and the schedules on time, and our small office is where all that planning happens. It’s a simple space with a few chairs and a counter for selling tickets. We don’t use any fancy computers or software; we just keep track of everything with a pen and a ledger. The market area can get very congested with rickshaws and people, so it is sometimes a challenge for the buses to pull out on time. We do our best to manage the delays and keep everyone informed. We have a lot of regular passengers who have been traveling with us for years, and we know their usual stops by heart. It is hard work, especially during the rainy season when the roads get muddy and slow, but we just keep at it.
