Sri Laxmi Beverages

We are located at 147, right near the main bus stand in Udupi. Being so close to the buses means it is never quiet around here. There is always someone shouting out destinations or drivers honking their horns. We have a small shop where we keep the crates of bottles stacked up against the wall. The big fridge is the most important thing we own in this heat. When it breaks down, it is a total disaster for us. People coming off the long-distance buses are usually very tired and thirsty. We don't have much room for people to sit down, so they mostly just stand around the front counter. We have a couple of old plastic stools for the elderly if they need a rest while they drink. My brother and I take turns running the place throughout the day. We start early in the morning and stay until the last bus leaves at night. The floor gets sticky from the spilled juice and soda, so we are always mopping it up with a bucket. We don't do any marketing or have any fancy displays to show off. The location right by the buses does all the work for us. People see the cold drinks and they come over to buy. It is a basic business but it keeps us busy. We keep the stock moving and try to stay cool ourselves under the fan. It has been our living for years.
