Kiran Rice Shop

If you walk down Kallianpur Main Road in Gopalpura, you will find us at 163-29. It is a busy street, especially in the mornings when everyone is out getting their groceries. We have been running Kiran Rice Shop for quite a long time now. It is mostly just sacks of rice stacked up to the ceiling. We have the usual varieties that people in Kallianpur like for their daily meals. Sometimes the shop gets a bit crowded because the space is narrow, but we manage. You might see some dust from the grain in the air when we are weighing things out for a customer. My hands are usually covered in that white rice powder by noon. We use an old scale that still works perfectly fine. People come in, ask for five kilos of this or ten kilos of that, and we scoop it out. The rain sometimes leaks a bit near the front door when it pours hard, so we have to move the bags back to keep them dry. It is just part of life here. We know most of our neighbors by name. They stop by to chat even if they do not need rice that day. It is a simple life, selling grain and watching the traffic go by on the main road. We do not do anything fancy, just keep the bags full and the floor swept as much as we can.
