Kaveri Ice Plant

We are located right on NH 66 in Kundapura, very close to the Karnataka Bank. This isn't just a shop where you sit and eat; we are an ice plant, so we do things a bit differently. Most of our work involves keeping the machinery running and making sure the ice is ready for whoever needs it. We’ve been at this spot for several years now. It’s a loud place because of the compressors and the traffic from the highway. We don't have a fancy front office. Usually, people just come to the side entrance and talk to whoever is on shift. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving blocks around. The floors are almost always wet, so we have to be careful. I started working here a long time ago and eventually took over the day-to-day things. We serve local shops and sometimes people who are having a big party and need a lot of ice or cold storage. It’s not the kind of place where you’d bring a date, but it’s an important part of how things work around here. We keep the trucks moving and the temperature down. It’s honest, cold work. The salt air from the coast sometimes messes with the metal, so there's always something to fix or paint. It’s just how it goes.
