We’ve been here on Bannanje Road for a good while now. Being right near Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple means we see a lot of folks coming and going every day. Usually, the morning starts with opening up the shutters and getting the tools ready. It gets pretty loud once we start working on the engines, but that is just how it is in a workshop. Sometimes people stop by just to ask for directions because of the temple nearby, and we don't mind helping out. Our hands are almost always covered in grease or oil from whatever machine is pulled apart on the floor. It’s a busy spot in Udupi. We handle a mix of regular customers who have been coming to us for years and new people who just happened to break down nearby. The space isn't fancy, just a practical place to get work done. We deal with all sorts of mechanical issues, some easy and some that take a whole afternoon of head-scratching. There is always a pot of tea going somewhere or someone running out to grab snacks from the local stalls. It can get dusty with the road right there, but we are used to it. We just focus on the job in front of us until the sun starts to go down. Most days are long, but that’s how life is when you're running a garage in this part of town.
