Daata College

The college is located over in Udhampur, right near the Omara Morh area which stays busy most of the day. If you are looking for us, we are right by the Post Office, so it is a pretty easy landmark for anyone coming from outside the immediate neighborhood. The building has been here for a while and shows its age in some spots, but it feels like a real part of the town. Jammu weather can be unpredictable, so some days it is freezing and everyone is bundled up in sweaters, and other days the sun is really hitting the courtyard. We see a lot of students coming and going through the gates, mostly locals from around the 182101 area. The hallways are usually filled with the sound of shuffling feet and people talking between their scheduled times. It is a practical place, not really built for looks but for getting through the day's work. We spend a lot of time just managing the daily routine, making sure the rooms are open and the schedules are followed. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out, which is just how things go here. The staff mostly keeps to themselves and focuses on whatever paperwork or teaching needs to happen. It is not a quiet place by any means, especially with the buses passing by the main road constantly, but it is where we spend our time and do our work until the day is over.
