Shankar Rice Mills

Shankar Rice Mills is situated on Khatima Road. If you know where Manila Talkies is in Udham Singh Nagar, then we are very easy to find. We are just a short distance from there. The mill has been around for a long time, and the building shows its age a little, but it still works perfectly for what we need. We spend our time milling rice for the people in this district. It’s a straightforward business. We get the raw paddy, run it through the machines, and bag it up. The sound of the mill is something I’ve grown up with. It feels strange when it’s quiet on Sundays. Our staff are mostly local people who live just a few minutes away. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to do the work right and get through the day. Sometimes the machines act up, and we have to spend half a day fixing a motor or cleaning out a clog. That’s just part of the job. The office is small and usually has a bit of dust on the shelves no matter how much we clean. People stop by to chat or check on their orders, and we always have a bit of time for a tea. It’s a friendly place, even if it’s a bit loud and messy. We like being part of the community here near the talkies. It’s just home for us.
