Kanti General Store

You can find Kanti General Store in Tipuniya. We are situated near the Durga City Centre in the Haldwani district. It’s a busy area because of the city centre. Lots of people pass by every hour. We’ve been here for a while. The shop isn’t very big, so we have to stack things all the way to the ceiling. I use a tall wooden ladder to get the stuff from the top. My knees hurt a bit when I climb it too often. We sell mostly general items that people need for their kitchens. Sometimes the delivery guys are late because of the traffic in Haldwani. That makes the customers annoyed, but there’s not much I can do. I just tell them to come back later. The counter is getting a bit scratched up from all the bags being dragged across it. I keep a small calculator by the register because I’m not as fast at math as I used to be. The afternoon sun hits the front of the store directly. It makes the plastic wrappers on the snacks look shiny. We try to keep the place organized, but it’s hard with so many different items. People from the city centre often wander over looking for something cheaper. We just do our work and go home. There’s always more stock to count or another floor to sweep before we close up. It’s just the way it goes.
