Vijay Gud Unit

The Vijay Gud Unit is located right in Ward No. 1 of the village. We are near the Post Office in Taloka Kolgaon, which is in the Georai district. Making gud is something we have done for a long time. It is a traditional process that involves a lot of boiling and stirring. The furnace is always hot, and the work is very physical. We don't have fancy machines to do everything for us. Most of it is done by hand, from carrying the cane to pouring the hot liquid into the molds. It is a village business, so we don't worry about being polished or corporate. Our unit is basically a large open shed where the work happens. The dust from the village roads sometimes blows in, but we just keep going. We are part of the daily life here in Georai. When the season is on, we work late into the night. You can see the glow from our fires from the main road. We don't have any big slogans or missions. We just make the jaggery and sell it to whoever comes by the post office or the ward. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to dry the blocks, so we have to wait. It is a slow process, but we don't like to rush it. It's just honest work that we do every year in Kolgaon. Our hands are usually stained with juice and soot, but that is part of the job.
