Shriram Clinic

You can find Shriram Clinic inside the Nagar Parishad Complex on Bazar Road here in Gevrai. Being in the complex means we are right in the middle of all the town's activity. People are always coming and going for different kinds of paperwork at the government offices nearby. Our space is tucked into a corner on the ground floor. It’s not a very large room, but we have managed to fit everything we need inside. There are some metal chairs along the wall for waiting. We keep a big water jar in the corner with a steel cup for anyone who is thirsty. The walls are a plain off-white color and could probably use a new coat of paint soon. On rainy days, the hallway gets a bit muddy from all the foot traffic, so we have to keep a mop handy near the door. We see all kinds of people, from farmers to shopkeepers. Gevrai is a small enough place that we recognize most of the faces. We don't use any computers for our work. Everything is written down by hand in thick ledger books. It takes a bit more time, but we are used to it. The windows are small and high up, so we rely on the overhead tube lights. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we just use the light from the doorway. It’s a simple way of working, but it suits us and the people who visit.
