Sanjeevani Dal Shop

Our dal shop is right in the middle of Rajpimpri village, not too far from the Khandoba Mandir. If you are looking for us in the Georai tehsil, just ask anyone near the temple. We have a simple setup with big open sacks of different pulses and lentils lined up along the entrance. The air always smells a bit like dry earth because of all the grain. We spend our time weighing out portions for the villagers and keeping an eye on the stock we get from the local farmers. It is a very rural spot, so things move a bit slower here than in the city. There is an old wooden bench outside where people sit to chat while they wait for their orders to be weighed on the manual scale. We do not have a computer or anything like that, just a big ledger where we write things down. When there is a festival at the mandir, it gets very busy and we stay open much later than usual. The roof is made of corrugated metal, so you can really hear the birds landing on it or the rain during the monsoon season. We do not try to be anything more than what we are, which is just a local shop selling dal. It is steady work and it feels good to be a part of the village life here.
