Dolphy Tea Private Limited is tucked away in Kathalguri village, which is near Udalguri. You can find us near the Lutheran Church, which is a big landmark for everyone living around here. Dhruba Boro is the one who handles a lot of the things at this location. It is a very peaceful spot, and you can usually hear the church bells or the birds in the trees rather than cars or engines. Our setup is simple, just like the rest of the village. We work with the local tea leaves that come from the surrounding fields. The BTAD region has its own way of doing things, and we fit right into that local flow. We aren't a big corporation with offices in the city. Our "office" is often just a wooden table with a bunch of papers and a phone that rings whenever the tea collectors have a question. The floors are concrete and the roof is tin, which makes it very loud when the monsoon rains start hitting in the middle of the year. We spend our days coordinating with the pickers and making sure the transport is ready. It is hard work, and the tea dust gets on everything, but it is what we know.
