Udaipur Stationers is tucked away in Bapu Bazar at number 254. If you have ever walked through Bapu Bazar, you know how crowded it gets with all the rickshaws and people pushing past. Our shop is small but we cram a lot into it. There are pens, pencils, notebooks, and those big accounting ledgers that some of the older shopkeepers still use. The walls are covered in shelves that go all the way up. I usually have to use a wooden stool to reach the registers or the fancy paper. It smells like ink and new paper in here, which is a smell I have grown to like over the years. We get a lot of students coming in right before their exams start. They are always in a panic because they lost their favorite pen or need an extra eraser. We also keep those little bottles of glue that always seem to leak a bit on the shelf. The counter is made of dark wood and has a lot of scratches from people dropping their bags on it. It’s a noisy street outside, but inside it’s just the sound of pages turning or someone scribbling to see if a pen still works. We don't have any big signs, just the one over the door that has been there since my father's time. It is a bit dusty sometimes, but we try to keep it tidy.
