Tapan Microns, Udaipur

Tapan Microns is based out of Udaipur, specifically at 113, Kharol Colony in Fatehpura. If you know Rajasthan, you know it’s a place that knows its minerals and stones. We work with microns, which basically means we deal with very fine powders and materials that go into all sorts of industrial products. It’s a dusty business, honestly. Our office in Kharol Colony is where we manage the orders and talk to the guys at the processing units. Udaipur is a beautiful place, but when you’re working in the mineral industry, you’re usually more focused on the weight of a shipment or the quality of the grind than the lakes. We started this because there was a need for local suppliers who didn't charge an arm and a leg. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. We spend a lot of time checking samples and making sure everything matches what the customer asked for. The climate here can be really dry, which helps with keeping the powders from clumping up, I suppose. We’ve got a small team, and we all know each other’s families by now. It’s just how business is done in this part of India. We don’t have a fancy website or a huge advertising budget; we just rely on the fact that we’ve been here for years and people know our name. 313001 is where we belong, and we don't plan on moving.
