Takniki Kala Sangam

If you find yourself in Surajpole near Jhini Ret Chowk, you'll probably pass by our door at number 47. Takniki Kala Sangam has been part of this street for a good bit of time now. The name sounds a bit formal, but we're just regular people working on technical designs and artistic stuff. The office is usually full of the smell of ink and old paper. We don’t have a receptionist or a lobby with snacks. It’s more of a workshop feel where things are actually getting made. Sometimes the street outside gets really crowded, especially during market hours, so it can be a challenge just to get inside. We do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to technical drawings and keeping things precise. It’s a lot of sitting and staring at small details. My back usually aches by five o'clock. We’ve seen the shops around Jhini Ret Chowk change owners plenty of times, but we’re still here doing our thing. It isn't always pretty, and sometimes we run out of supplies at the worst moment, but we manage. People know us as the ones who stay late when a deadline is coming up. We just focus on the task at hand and try to make sure everything we produce is accurate. It’s a simple way to make a living, honestly. There is no magic to it, just keeping our eyes on the page and the ink flowing.
