If you drive down Sukher Bedla Road, you’ll find our spot. Sushma Crane Service has been operating out of this location for a good while now. The road gets quite dusty with all the trucks passing by, but that is just part of being in this line of work. We don’t have a flashy sign or a big lobby with chairs. It’s mostly just a flat piece of land where we park the cranes and a small shed where we keep the tools and extra oil. Every morning starts about the same way, checking the hydraulic fluid and making sure the cables are looking right. You get used to the smell of diesel and the sound of the big engines turning over. My hands are almost always stained with some kind of grime, but that’s how you know you’re actually working. We deal with all sorts of jobs, from moving heavy stone blocks to helping out with construction projects nearby. The guys who work here are local, and we all just want to get the job done and go home to our families. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate and we have to wait out the rain, which can be frustrating when you have a deadline. But you can't rush safety with these machines. It’s heavy work, and it takes a toll on the body, but seeing a big project come together makes it worth the effort.
