We are right by the Clock Tower at number 81. It’s a landmark everyone knows, so we don't usually have to give directions twice. Being near the tower means we hear the bells all day long, which is actually kind of nice once you get used to it. Soni Gold Place has been part of this street for years. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with glass cases and the smell of polishing cloths. We spend a lot of time talking to people who walk in off the street. Some are looking for something specific, while others just want to see what’s new. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s mostly family and a couple of helpers who have been with us forever. Gold work requires a steady hand and a lot of sitting down, so we make sure to stretch our legs whenever the shop gets quiet. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to use the backup lights, but we keep working regardless. People come to us because they know where we are and they’ve seen us here for a long time. We don't use fancy sales pitches or anything. If someone likes a piece, they buy it. If not, we just chat for a bit. It’s a straightforward way to run a business. We like the pace of the neighborhood and the familiar faces that pass by every morning.
