Riu Enterprises

Riu Enterprises is situated in Shop No. 28 and 29 in the New Market area of Malla Talai. We are quite close to the Udai Median Hotel, which is usually how people find us. We have two shops next to each other because one just wasn't enough to hold all our stock. It’s a bit of a maze inside with boxes piled up to the ceiling. We handle various types of supplies for local businesses and homes. It’s not a glamorous job, but someone has to do it. The market is always crowded, especially on weekends, so it gets pretty hectic around here. We’ve been here in Udaipur for several years now. We know most of the other shopkeepers in Malla Talai. We often help each other out when someone is short on change or needs a hand with a heavy load. Our shop doesn't have air conditioning, so we keep the fans going all day. It gets dusty being so close to the road, but that’s just how it is in the market. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still written down in our notebooks. It works for us. We just try to be helpful to whoever walks through the door. It’s a simple life, running a shop and seeing the same neighbors every day. We usually grab lunch from the stall around the corner and eat while we wait for customers. It's just the way things go here.
