Rishabh Dry Fruits

Our shop, Rishabh Dry Fruits, is right in the heart of Dhanmandi at number 8. If you know the market, you know it is always packed with people and the smell of spices is everywhere. Our space is filled with big jute sacks and plastic bins containing different kinds of nuts and dried items. We spend a lot of time weighing things out on the old scale and bagging them up for customers who stop by. It is a very traditional setup with wooden shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. Because it is Dhanmandi, the narrow lanes outside are always blocked with carts and people shouting, so it can get quite loud inside the shop too. We have been at this location for a long time and the floorboards are worn down from all the walking back and forth. There is a small stool behind the counter where I sit when there are no customers, but that does not happen very often during the morning rush. We have to be careful to keep everything sealed up tight because of the humidity. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to work by candlelight for a bit, which is just part of being in this old market. It is a busy life but we are used to the rhythm of the bazaar.
