We are right in the thick of it at New Ashwini Bazar. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets. There are people everywhere and the streets are narrow. Our shop is filled with pipes, taps, and all sorts of bathroom fittings. It’s a bit of a maze inside because we try to fit as much as possible on the shelves. There is always someone coming in asking for a specific washer or a pipe fitting they can’t find anywhere else. We spend a lot of time digging through bins to find that one small part. It gets loud with the traffic outside, but we don't mind it much anymore. We don't bother with fancy lighting or expensive displays. The parts speak for themselves. Most of the time, I’m wiping dust off the porcelain or counting how many valves we have left. It’s a basic business. We talk to plumbers and homeowners all day. Sometimes we give advice on how to fix a leak, though we aren't plumbers ourselves. We just know the parts. When the market closes at night, it’s finally quiet. We lock up and head home, then come back and do it all again. It’s been our routine for a long time. There is something good about being in an old market like Ashwini Bazar. Everyone knows everyone else, so we often share lunch or just a quick chat when the shop is empty.
