Om Shiva Provison General Store

Our store is located in the Pratap Nagar area of Udaipole. It is just a regular general store where we keep all the things people need for their kitchens and houses. We have bags of rice, pulses, soaps, and all that kind of stuff. The shop is pretty full, so we have to stack things high up toward the ceiling. Sometimes I need a ladder just to get a packet of tea for a customer. We open up early and stay open until fairly late in the evening. There is usually a bit of a rush in the mornings when people are getting ready for work. We know most of the families who live around here. They come in for a chat as much as they do for the groceries. The floor is concrete and we try to sweep it twice a day, but the dust always finds its way back in. We don't have a fancy billing system, just a notepad and a pen for the most part. It’s a simple way to run a business but it works for us. The stray dog that hangs out near the entrance has become a bit of a mascot for the store. We get our deliveries in the afternoons and that is when the shop gets really messy with crates and boxes everywhere. We just move them out of the way as fast as we can. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day, but we are used to it.
