Nagda Mawa & Dhoodh Bhandar

Our shop, Nagda Mawa & Dhoodh Bhandar, is tucked inside Surajpole on Premi Dwara Marg, number 15. If you know the area, you know it is always humming with people. We start our day very early, long before most people are even thinking about breakfast. The milk arrives and the work begins. It is a lot of heavy lifting and making sure everything is fresh. The smell of boiling milk is something I have grown up with. We make mawa here, which is a slow process that you can't really rush if you want it to turn out right. People come to us when they are planning a wedding or a festival because they need good ingredients for their sweets. It is messy work sometimes, and our clothes usually have a few splashes on them by midday. We don't have a fancy storefront with big glass windows. It is more of a traditional setup where you see the work happening right in front of you. Sometimes we run out of things faster than expected, especially during the holiday seasons. That is just the way it goes. We do our best to keep up with the demand from the local families. My family has been doing this for a long time, and we just keep the tradition going at our own pace. It is hard work, but it feels right to be part of the community's daily meals.
