Our place is located at Plot 10 in Kaalu Ram Ji Ki Baadi. If you know Gayariawas in Udaipur, you probably know the area. It’s not a huge spot but it works for what we do with the import and export business. Some mornings are quiet, just checking emails and looking at spreadsheets. Other days, things are moving fast and there is stuff piled up that needs to be moved out. Living and working in Udaipur is nice, though the roads can be a bit narrow for some of the bigger vehicles. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to people about shipping dates and freight. It’s mostly just hard work and paying attention to the small details so nothing gets lost. The building is simple, nothing flashy. We usually have lunch together in the small back room. There is always a lot of dust from the road outside, but you get used to that after a week or two. We handle a variety of goods depending on what people are asking for. It’s a small team here at Menariya Exim. We don’t have any big corporate meetings, we just talk across the desks to figure out what needs doing. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour, so we just sit outside until it comes back on. That’s just life here. We hope the monsoon stays steady this year for the lakes to fill up.
