Mangalam Paints & Hardware

If you find yourself near the Fatehpura Choraha on Nathdwara Road, you’ll probably see our place, Mangalam Paints & Hardware. We handle a mix of hardware items and various paints. It’s a busy intersection, so there is always a lot of dust and noise from the traffic. We’ve been at this spot in Fatehpura for a good bit now. The shop is filled with all sorts of bits and pieces, from nails and tools to big cans of paint stacked up in the corners. It can be a bit of a maze inside if you don't know where things are kept. We spend a lot of time helping people find that one specific bolt or a shade of color they need for a quick fix at home. Some days it feels like we are just moving things from one side of the room to the other to make space. It’s a practical kind of life, working with your hands and talking to people who are usually in the middle of a repair. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything runs okay. The tea stall nearby is where we usually grab a drink during the afternoon slump. We stay open until the sun goes down, mostly. It’s a straightforward business, no frills or anything special, just providing what the locals need when something breaks or needs a fresh coat.
