Running a hardware shop on City Station Road means you never really have a quiet moment. We’re located right near Toran Bavri at number 15. It’s a busy spot with lots of rickshaws and people rushing to catch trains. Inside Mahaveer Hardware, it smells like metal and oil, which is something you get used to after a week. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, packed with boxes of screws, hinges, and tools that we’ve collected over time. It can get a bit dusty, especially in the corners we can’t reach easily. When someone walks in asking for a specific bolt, we usually have to dig through a few bins to find the right size. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy crates and counting out items by hand. We don’t have a computer system that tracks every single nail, so we rely on what we see on the shelves. My hands are usually a bit dirty by lunch, but that’s part of the job. Some days are slow when the rain keeps people away, and we just sit and watch the traffic go by on the road. Other days, three people want something at the same time and it gets a bit hectic. We just try to keep things moving. We’ve been at this location for a long time, and the building shows its age, but it works for what we need. It's just a normal hardware store doing normal business.
