Litolier Marble

Being so close to the Bombay Exhibition Ground means there is always a lot of traffic and noise on Walbhat Road. We are at 414-B and Litolier Marble is basically just a big warehouse space filled with various types of stone. It stays relatively cool inside because of all the marble slabs, which is a nice break when Goregaon East gets really hot. We spend most of our time moving heavy slabs around with the crane so people can see the different patterns. There is a lot of water used for the polishing and cutting machines so the floor is usually wet. It gets messy and we have to wear boots all day. We have seen a lot of people come through looking for stuff for their new kitchens or bathroom floors. It is heavy, back-breaking stuff to move around. The guys in the back stay busy with the loading area and there is always a truck idling outside. It is a lot of manual labor even with the machines we have. We just try to keep the inventory organized so we can actually find what we need. Sometimes the heavy rain makes the yard a bit of a mud pit but we just deal with it. It is just how things go at a stone yard like this one.
