We work out of House Number 195 on Q Road, which is right in the Bhupalpura section of Udaipur. Being near St Paul School means we hear the school bell and the kids shouting at lunch time, which actually makes the office feel a bit more alive. It’s a house that we have converted into our workspace, so it has a more comfortable, lived-in feel than a cold office building. We have the usual setup—desks, chairs, a couple of old cupboards for the files, and a small area for guests to sit. The walls are a bit plain, but we have a few calendars and maps pinned up to help us keep track of things. Working from this location is convenient because it is easy to find, yet it stays relatively quiet once the school day is in session. We spend a lot of our time reading through documents and typing up reports. It’s the kind of work that keeps you stationary for long hours, so we try to take short breaks to walk around or grab a snack from the nearby shops. We have been part of this Udaipur community for a good while, and we know many of the families who live on Q Road. There is no pressure to look a certain way or act corporate here. We are just a small group of people doing our jobs, taking care of the paperwork, and trying to be helpful to those who come through our door.
