Hindustan Zinc Limited, Udaipur, India

We are set up at 77A in the Ambamata Scheme area of Udaipur. It is a fairly well-known part of town, not too far from the lakes and the main tourist spots, but quiet enough that we can get our work done. This office handles various aspects of the Hindustan Zinc operations in India. The building is older, with the kind of architecture you see a lot of in Rajasthan, and it has a small yard in the front where a few of us park our scooters. Inside, the rooms are converted to offices, so it feels a bit like working in a house, which we actually prefer. It makes the long hours feel a bit more comfortable. We do not have a big receptionist or a lobby with coffee machines; we just walk in and start on the mail and the ledgers. The Ambamata area has a nice vibe, with families living nearby and small grocery stores on the corner. Sometimes you can hear the bells from the local temple in the morning, which is a nice way to start the day. We have been at this address for a good while, and most of our neighbors know who we are. We do not go in for big corporate branding on the walls. We just have our calendars and a few photos of our families. It is a plain, honest workspace for people who know the mining business inside and out.
