D Sharma Classes is tucked away in Hiran Magri Sector 5, and it’s been in this same spot for a while now. The building has a bit of a faded yellow color on the outside, and the stairs are made of that old grey stone that gets slippery when it rains. I usually get here around eight in the morning. I like the quiet before the first group of people arrives. I walk through the rooms and make sure all the markers are working and that there is enough paper on the side desk. The view from our main window is mostly just the rooftops of other buildings in Sector 5 and a bit of the hills in the distance if the sky is clear. We have a small corner where we keep some extra chairs stacked up because sometimes more people show up than we expected. The floor is tiled, and I usually spend a few minutes sweeping out the sand that gets blown in from the street. My desk is covered in old registers and a few pens that have run out of ink. It’s not a corporate office, just a local place where people come to learn things. I usually go downstairs to the small shop on the corner to get a samosa around midday. The traffic in this part of Udaipur has picked up lately, so there is always the sound of horns in the background. It is just a regular, busy life we have here.
