Chandaliya & Sons

We have been running Chandaliya & Sons out of this spot at 92 Mehta Ji Ki Khidki for quite a few years now. Being on Maldas Street means there is never a quiet moment, but our specific corner feels a bit more tucked away than the main road shops. The building itself is pretty old, and you can see it in the walls and the way the door creaks when you push it open. My sons are here with me most days, helping move the heavier bundles around because my back isn't what it used to be. We don't have any fancy signs or bright lights. Most of our customers come in because they know the name or they’ve been told to look for the 'Khidki' area. It gets quite cramped when we get a fresh delivery, and sometimes you have to step over boxes just to get to the back where we keep the registers. We spend most of our mornings just sorting through things and checking what needs to go out. The ceiling fan hums all day long, and we usually have a pot of tea going in the corner for whoever stops by. It is a basic setup, nothing like those modern malls you see popping up. We prefer it this way though. It feels real. We know the other shopkeepers around here well, and we all kind of look out for each other when things get too hectic during the festival seasons.
