Aman Kirana Store

Aman Kirana Store is sitting right on Rampura Road in the Malla Talai area. It is a typical local grocery shop where we stock all the daily essentials. We have shelves filled with bags of flour, lentils, spices, and soaps. It’s a compact space, so we have to use every bit of the walls to stack things up high. Most of our day is spent weighing out items or grabbing things from the top shelves for customers. Rampura Road is usually busy with people heading to work or coming home, so we see a lot of the same faces every day. We know who likes which brand of tea and who usually comes in for milk in the morning. It’s a very personal way to run a business. We don't have a computer system or anything like that; we just use a notebook and a calculator to keep track of things. The shop stays open late because that is when many people realize they forgot something for dinner. It can be tiring standing all day, but we enjoy the conversations we have with the neighbors. Malla Talai has been our home for a long time, and the store is a big part of that. We just try to keep the shelves stocked and the prices fair. It is a simple, honest way to spend the day, right here on the corner of the road. We’ve been here for years and hope to stay.
