Tamil Nadu Agencies is located at 84, South Emperor Street. It’s a busy street and there is always a lot of noise from the traffic and the people walking by. Our shop has been here for a while, and we’ve seen the shops around us change hands many times. We stay pretty much the same, though. The front of the place is where we handle the customers, and the back is filled with stock. It’s not a very modern setup, with old wooden shelves and a heavy desk where we keep the ledger. We don't go in for fancy technology if the old way still works fine for us. We spend the day taking orders and checking what we have left in the storeroom. Sometimes it gets a bit hectic when several people come in at once, but we just take them one by one. The tea man comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a five-minute break to sit on the stools. We don't have a mission statement or any of that corporate talk. We just show up in the morning, open the shutters, and see what the day brings. It’s an honest business and we treat people fairly. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get around to it. We’re just too busy with the daily work.
