Sterlite Industries India Ltd.

Our finance department for Sterlite Industries (I) Ltd. is located out at the Sipcot Industrial Complex on the Madurai Bye Pass Road in Tuticorin. It’s a very industrial setting. You see a lot of big trucks and heavy machinery moving around outside all day. The building is solid and built for work, not for looking pretty. Inside, it’s all about the numbers. We have stacks of ledgers and computers that are always humming. It’s a bit of a drive from the main town, so we usually bring our own lunch or get something from the small shops near the complex gate. The wind really picks up out here on the bye-pass, and you can hear it whistling through the vents sometimes. It’s a busy place because there’s always something happening in the industrial zone. We don’t have a lot of visitors, mostly just people from other departments or auditors now and then. The office is kept very organized because we have to keep track of everything for the whole operation. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s important. We have a small break room where we sit for ten minutes to have tea, but mostly we are at our desks. It’s a practical environment for people who just want to get their work done and go home. There is no fuss or frills here, just people doing their jobs in a dusty industrial park.
