South Zone Granites

We are over at 17/6 Thirunagar 3Rd Street, which is where South Zone Granites operates from. It’s a quiet enough street most of the time, except when the trucks are coming through. We have been here for a good while, working with different types of granite for local projects. The yard isn't huge, so we have to be careful about how we stack the slabs so everything stays safe. Granite is heavy and unforgiving if you drop it. My cousin and I usually handle the daily tasks, like talking to contractors or checking the quality of a new batch that just arrived. We don’t have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of our stock is just out there under the shed where people can see the natural colors in the daylight. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when it rains and the ground gets muddy, but we keep going. We keep a ledger for all the sales, mostly written by hand because it’s just easier for us that way. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the stone we sell is decent and that the people in the neighborhood know they can come to us. It’s a simple setup, really. Just a couple of guys, some heavy stone, and a lot of work to get through every week.
