Samuel Polytechnic College

Our college is situated out in Mudivaithanendal, which is a bit of a drive from the main part of Thoothukudi. If you are coming from Vagaikulam, you probably know the spot near the junction. We focus on polytechnic courses, so there is always some noise coming from the workshops where the machines are running. Students spend a lot of time with their hands on the tools. It gets quite hot here in Tamil Nadu, so we try to keep the labs as cool as possible with big ceiling fans, though it doesn't always help much in the afternoons. The staff here are locals who have worked in various industries before coming to teach the younger generation. We have a lot of young people coming in from the nearby villages hoping to get a diploma and find a decent job in the city. The campus isn't anything spectacular to look at, just some sturdy concrete buildings and a few trees for shade during the break times. We don't do much in the way of big advertisements or fancy brochures. People usually find out about us through word of mouth or by seeing the sign on the side of the road. Most days follow the same pattern of lectures in the morning and practical work in the afternoon.
