JS WEAVING MILLS PRIVATE LIMITED is located at door number 21 on Kathiresan Kovil Road in Kovilpatti. We are right on the road that leads to the temple, so we see a lot of people passing by every day. The sound of our weaving machines is pretty constant and you can hear it from quite a distance away. Inside the mill, it is always a bit warm because of the machinery running all day long. We have rows of looms that take up most of the floor space, and there is barely enough room to walk between them when they are all moving. The air is often filled with tiny bits of cotton fluff, which is just part of the job when you work in weaving. Our staff consists of people from the local villages who have been doing this kind of work for most of their lives. We don't spend money on fancy marketing or anything like that. We just focus on keeping the machines oiled and the thread moving. There is a small area where we sit down to eat our lunch and share some stories before getting back to the looms. Sometimes a machine breaks down and the whole place goes quiet for a while until we can get it fixed. It is a basic, hardworking environment where we just focus on the task at hand and try to keep things running as long as the power stays on.
