We are down at 52/B South Street in Vedanatham. It’s a quiet spot compared to the bigger cities, but we stay busy with all the shipments coming through Tuticorin. Dhl Express (I)Pvt Ltd has us working mostly with international documents and small parcels. The building is simple and doesn't have much decoration on the walls. Mostly just some maps and duty schedules. We get a lot of salt air coming in from the coast, which sometimes makes the metal chairs a bit rusty. Most of the people working here are from the local area. We start the day early before the sun gets too high. There’s a lot of logging in of entries and checking shipping labels. If a truck is late, we just sit and wait while drinking coffee. The South Street area is easy to find if you know where Vedanatham is. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us handling the packages as they come. Sometimes the paperwork for customs gets a bit complicated, but we just take it one page at a time. The local shops around us are friendly. It feels like a small community here even though we are part of a global company. We just keep our heads down and make sure the boxes are taped up right. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the sea breeze and a couple of fans to keep us going.
