R.B.C Brick Industry

I am the son of Rangappa and we run this brick business out in Village-Agavala. We are part of the Kasaba Hobli area in the Tumkur district. To get to us, you have to head towards Post-Khothaghalli. It is a quiet place for the most part, surrounded by fields and trees. We have been working this land for a long time, making bricks out of the local soil we have available. R.B.C Brick Industry is not a big corporation; it is just us working hard every day. We follow the seasons closely because the weather dictates everything we do here. During the monsoon, we can't do much but wait for the ground to dry out. It can be frustrating, but that is the nature of the work in Tumkur. We use the traditional ways that have worked for us for years. There are no fancy computers in our shed. We keep our records in a simple notebook and deal with people face to face. It’s better that way because you get to know your neighbors and the people from the surrounding villages. Most people who come here are looking to build a small house or a wall for their cattle. We treat everyone the same whether they want ten bricks or a thousand. The sun is hot in Agavala, but we are used to it by now. We just keep our heads down and continue what Rangappa started. It is a life of dirt and hard work, but we are proud of it.
