Shivgauri Rice Mill

If you head out to Soni Village in the Lakhandur Taluka, you will find us right near the bus stand. Being a rice mill, things get very loud and dusty around here, especially during the harvest months when the trucks start coming in. We are located in the Desaiganj area of the district. The mill has been running for years, and it’s a lot of hard work. We deal with the local farmers who bring their grain in from the surrounding fields. You can usually tell when we are busy because the sound of the machinery carries quite a distance. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving sacks around and making sure the machines are greased and running right. The heat in the shed can get pretty intense during the middle of the day. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment; we just use what works and fix it when it breaks. Most of the guys working here are from the village itself or just a short bike ride away. We eat our lunch under the shade of the trees outside when we get a break. It's not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do to get by. Being near the bus stand makes it easy for people to find us, and there is always some activity happening on the road. It feels like a real part of the village life here in Soni.
