We are based at Shri Upasrao Pandurang Gaidhane’s place in Kusari, over in the Tumsar area. Khushari Farmer Producer Company Limited started because the farmers around here were tired of dealing with middlemen who didn't understand the work. Tumsar has its own way of doing things, and we wanted to keep that local feel. Upasrao’s home is where we usually meet to talk about what we are planting and how the season is looking. It’s a very practical arrangement. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just talk over tea about the cost of seeds and how to get our produce to the market without spending all our money on transport. Sometimes the roads are bad and sometimes the rain doesn't show up, but that is part of the life we chose. We are just a group of people from Kusari trying to do a bit better for our kids. When we work together under this company name, it feels like we have a bit more of a say in what happens to our crops. It is simple, honest work. We don't use big words or make huge promises to anyone. We just look at the land and try to figure out the best way to keep moving forward, one season at a time, right here in our own village. We keep the books ourselves and try to stay as organized as possible.
