About Gajanan Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Tumsar
Gajanan Rice Mill is at Shop No-22, right near the Jama Masjid in Kurkheda Taluka. You can usually hear our machines humming long before you actually see the shop. It gets quite loud inside when the milling is in full swing, so we have to shout to hear each other. The floor stays covered in a layer of husk and bran, no matter how much we sweep it. People from all over the taluka bring their grain here to be processed. It is a messy job, and the air always feels thick with the scent of toasted grain and dust. We have a few old wooden chairs for people to sit on while they wait for their bags to be filled up. The machines are old and need a lot of grease and maintenance to keep them running smoothly. I spend a lot of my time cleaning out the filters and checking the belts. My clothes are usually stained with oil and dust by the time I head home. We don't use computers here, just a simple ledger and a pen to track the work. We close the doors when the sun goes down, usually feeling quite tired. It’s a local spot that everyone knows. We have been in this same spot for a long time and don't have any plans to change how we do things. It is just honest work in a noisy shed, and it serves the community well. We take pride in just getting the job done.
